One of my biggest demons is consistency. Like I just stated in the thoughts portion of the site, I have a huge problem holding on to things. And being a nomad, I change my direction often. So this past year has been about staying.
What does this have to do with my Etsy shop?
Truth: The Etsy shop was premature.
Truth: A business on any level needs a focus. It also needs to be consistent, and somewhat static.
It’s not just about a good product, but it also has to do with being able to handle the administrative. And for the Etsy shop to be, well, anything, I have to stay in one place.
So here’s how it’s going to work this year. I am currently working on small works that will be available at flea markets. I want to try out the atmosphere and toy around with how the retail end. This year in my “staying” I’ve spent a lot of time doing retail, and I’ve got a lot of ideas on how to run the online shop better that I need to put into practice. The shop will always be available, but it will only be stocked with product during and a few days immediately after a live event. Like the YW Fundraiser Flea Market in May. But it wont stay consistently stocked.
